How are tungsten carbide buttons manufactured?

Cemented carbide buttons are produced through a series of complex powder metallurgy processes, mainly a series of steps such as batching, ball milling and mixing, pressing and molding, sintering and post-treatment.

The tungsten carbide powder provides high hardness and wear resistance, and its particle size is usually in the micron level, such as the common 1 - 5μm. cobalt powder acts as a binder, which can bond the tungsten carbide particles together and make the alloy have a certain degree of toughness, and the content of cobalt is usually around 3% - 20%, depending on the performance of the required ball gears.

The surface of the sintered tungsten carbide button may have some imperfections, such as minor unevenness, dimensional errors and so on. Grinding and polishing can obtain accurate dimensions and smooth surfaces.

And, in order to further improve the performance of the cemented carbide button, such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance or high temperature resistance, sometimes the surface of the carbide button is coated. The coating can play a role in protecting the substrate and prolonging the service life of the ball teeth. If you have the need you can consult Jinxin's experts to help you decide.
